The Amoralists, now in our 10th season, are excited to host the second year of ‘Wright Club, a community of playwrights focused on strengthening our craft as theatre makers. Our first year of ‘Wright Club has been a phenomenal success, and though we’re sad to say goodbye to our outstanding ensemble of authors, we are thrilled to bring six new authors to The Amoralist family, and into ‘Wright Club.
During their one year residency in 'Wright Club, each club author creates two new one-act plays in a workshop production process modeled on The Amoralists' method. These plays are presented to the public in “dangerously” staged readings at the bi-monthly public forum we call ‘Wright Night, and they are followed by a daring conversation wherein authors speak openly about their work, exploring the successes and shortcomings of the plays.
Between these public presentations, ‘Wright Club authors attend meet-ups and workshops twice per month where they engage in peer support, artistic activities, and discussion groups lead by cross-disciplinary artists ranging from emerging and mid-career artists to established professionals.
‘Authors leave the program with two new plays, a bevy of new collaborators, and a new way of seeing themselves and their processes. 'Wright Club’s foremost emphasis is the development of the playwright as theatremaker. There are no dues or fees for 'Wright Club.
‘Wright Club playwrights must:
a) have not received a production larger than an Actors' Equity Showcase code in New York City,
b) attend bi-weekly meetings in New York City, missing no more than 3 meet-ups during the year,
c) attend all ‘Wright Nights, the bi-monthly public presentations, and
d) be courageous.
Deadline is 11:59pm, July 17, 2016.

And thank you for your art!
The Amoralists year-long playwright development program, in which 6 authors face off with their harshest critics, themselves, through guided artistic challenges and structured peer support. We are a community of playmakers bound by the principles, and strengthened in the practice, of courageous vulnerability.
To build a community of artists, focusing primarily on writers for the theatre; To deepen authors’ understanding of their own process through production; And to broaden the theatre community's conversation about playmaking.
